In Iran 13-18 percent of all young couples are futile, secretary of Iranian Society of Reproductive Medicine, Mohammad Reza Noroozi said, Mehr reported.
He added that the government is trying to increase the overall population in the country.
According to the world statistics, there is a 15 percent futility rate existing among young couples.
In case with Iran, the stats vary depending on the region.
Noroozi noted that if dividing the couples, the percentage is roughly the same - 50 percent men, 50 percent women.
He added that in 9 cases of 10, impregnation is impossible, yet due to some medical methods, it is possible for a futile couple to have a child, although not on first stages of futility.
