Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast condemned the recent terrorist attacks in the Pakistani cities of Rawalpindi and Karachi which resulted in death and injury of a number of mourners of Hazrat Imam Hussein (AS), IRNA reported.
Expressing regret over the organized assassination of Shia citizens over past several weeks in different parts of Pakistan, Mehmanparast said that such crimes have been premeditated and with the aim of creating and deepening the religious sectarian rift among Pakistani citizens.
While sympathizing with the families of the victims and those injured in recent incidents, the Iranian spokesman expressed hope that the perpetrators of such crimes will be identified and arrested by Pakistani officials in the shortest possible time.
Three separate attacks rocked the Pakistani cities of Rawalpindi and Karachi on Wednesday.
Karachi witnessed twin blasts at Jamia Masjid-o-Imambargah Haider-o-Karrar in the Orangi Town neighborhood. Two lives were lost, given that there was no congregation at the Imambargah at the time of the first or the second blast.
A suicide bomb attack on a funeral procession in Rawalpindi overnight killed 24 people and wounded another 62.
