Tehran's mayor and presidential hopeful Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf said that it's the leader of the Islamic revolution who has the final say on the country's foreign policy.

Qalibaf was hinting at slogans of foreign policy change by some of his rivals.

He made the comments at a briefing on his future plans at Shiraz University.

Qalibaf rejected speculations that problems would be resolved if relations are established between Iran and the US.

He said it's also incorrect to be involved in disputes with other countries for no reason. Both approaches, he added, are unbalanced.

Qalibaf believes that controversy has no place in foreign policy and that the new president must properly manage the diplomatic system.

He said that the appropriate management can also help improve the country's economy.

Qalibaf belongs to a group called the Coalition of Three in the Principalists' Camp.

Iran will hold the 11th presidential elections on June 14, 2013.
