BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. Iran expects to harvest 60,000–70,000 tons more rapeseed this planting year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025) than the previous year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), an official of the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture, Sadulla Mansuri, said, Trend reports.
According to him, the country hopes to harvest more than 250,000 tons of rapeseed in the current planting year.
The official added that 160,000 hectares of rapeseed were planted in the country for the current year.
Rapeseed is expected to be harvested from 130,000 hectares of land.
Of the 160,000 hectares, 50,000 to 55,000 hectares are dry-farming, and the rest are ordinary lands.
The official also said that rapeseed was planted on 110,000 hectares of land in the country last year. In the end, 140,000 rapeseeds were taken from 88,000 hectares of land.
According to him, rapeseed harvesting has started in Iran's Kerman, Hormuzgan, Khuzistan, and Ilam provinces.
Meanwhile, Iran is taking steps in the direction of increasing the planting of rapeseed to provide cooking oil in the country.
