Merchandise entering and leaving Iran's Amirabad port disclosed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 28. More than 1.06 million tonnes of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the port of Amirabad in Mazandaran province, located in northern Iran, from March 20 through May 28, director general of Iran's Amirabad Port and Maritime Administration Mohammad Ali Mousapour said, Trend reports.

He claims that the aforementioned volume of freight loading and unloading is 40 percent more than the corresponding period last year.

Ali Mousapour noted that 762,000 tons of cargo in the mentioned volume is accounted for imported products. Thus, the main imported products are grains, edible oils, and wood materials.

The official added that about 286,000 tons of products were exported through Amirabad Port during the mentioned period. Construction materials, cement, and other export commodities were exported through Amirabad Port.

“Overall, more than 1.85 million tons of cargo has been transported through Iranian ports on the Caspian Sea. A total of 56 percent of it belongs to the port of Amirabad," he said.

To note, Amirabad port is Iran's largest port, located on the Caspian Sea. The area of this port is 1,060 ha.
