BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. A total of 209,000 tons of products worth about $298 million were imported to Sistan and Baluchestan provinces located in southeastern Iran during the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024), controller of customs of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province Mohammad Ali Khashi said, Trend reports.
According to him, compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through May 21, 2023), imports of products increased by 9 percent in value terms and decreased by 33 percent in weight terms.
Khashi noted that the main imported products are rice, corn, sesame, meat, tea, cloth, and others.
The official added that the products were mainly imported from Pakistan, India, the UAE, China, and Afghanistan.
To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, 5.84 million tons of products worth about $9.08 billion were imported to Iran during the past two months. Imports of non-oil products to Iran increased by 9.19 percent in value terms and 13.3 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year.
