(www.cihannews.com) вЂ" Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul has met Chief of Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit in his office, prior to their visits to the United States.
Gen. Yasar Buyukanit visited Gul at the Foreign Ministry before noon. Following their meting, FM Gul sent Buyukanit off up to his official car.
Asked about their meeting, Gul told reporters outside the ministry that they had exchanged views on their separate visits to the United States, reports Trend.
Today's meeting came after a mini crisis sparked by an agreement recently signed between and Greek Cyprus and Egypt on explorations of oil near Cyprus, leading to some rumors of sending Turkish warships near Cyprus.
"We have already ships in Aegean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean for patrolling on regular duties," Gen. Buyukanit told reporters before his meeting with Gul, adding that it was out of question to send new ships to the area.
