Iran’s exports to EU decrease

Iran's exports to Europe registered a 4.6 percent fall in terms of value year on year and stood at $364 million during the first quarter of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-June 21).

It is while the figure witnessed an increase by 3.9 percent in the two month period to May 22 following the sharp fall of 33.51 percent in the first Iranian calendar month (March 21-April 21).

Iran's exports to EU accounted for $242 million in the first two months of Iranian year (March 21-May 22) and $65 million in the first month respectively.

The Islamic Republic exported 470,000 metric tons of goods to the European countries in the 3-month period, which indicates a decrease of 20 percent in comparison with the same period of preceding year, the Iranian Customs Administration said in its latest monthly report released June 30.

European markets shared 4.4 percent of Tehran's total non-oil exports' value during the period.

Meanwhile, the European countries exported over 2.65 million metric tons of goods, worth $2.1 billion to Iran during the 3-month period from March 21 to June 21.

The Islamic Republic's imports from the Europe registered a fall by 9.7 percent in terms of value and a rise by 3.5 percent in terms of volume respectively compared the same period of preceding year.

Iran's imports from Europe accounted for 20.3 percent of the country's total imports' value.

Switzerland was the Islamic Republic's main European trade partner during the period. The country exported over $544 million worth of goods to Iran, indicating a rise by 47.3 percent year on year.

Switzerland stood at sixth place among the countries exported goods to Iran.

Germany was the next top European goods exporter to Iran with $441.9 million worth of exports (indicating a fall by 23.7 percent), followed by Italy ($205.86 million worth of goods, 1.5 percent increase), Russia($143 million, 13.7 percent fall), Netherlands ($140.2 million, 17.9 percent fall) and the UK ($128.26 million or 2.9 percent less year on year).

The Islamic Republic's non-oil exports (including condensates) stood at $10.867 billion during first three months of current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-June 21), while imports accounted for $10.35 billion.
