Iran says that has identified the IP address of the hackers who attacked one of the governmental websites.

Confirming the cyber attack against one of the Iranian governmental websites, Mahmoud Vaezi, the Iranian ICT minister said that a European IP address was identified in the attack, ISNA news agency reported May 28.

The issue is under investigation, Vaezi further said.

He added that security incidents in cyber space occur all around the world even in the US and EU.

The Islamic Republic has carried out measures to establish security in the cyber space, Vaezi said, adding the National Information Network (National Internet) is one of the projects which is followed under this purpose.

The recent round of attacks against Iranian official websites started May 25, as a group which calls itself DAES hacked the website of the Statistical Center of Iran sending the website down for a short time, and posting a message of its own on the main page.

Iranian media outlets reported that the hackers were "outside of Iran", but little was known about them.

The group further hacked websites of Iran's culture ministry, the legal deputy of the judiciary, as well as the interpreting administration of the judiciary on May 27.
