Mobile messenger became the most downloaded type of application by users of Android devices in Iran, according to a report by Cafe Bazaar, the largest local app store.
The quarterly report, which covers autumn 2017 (Sept. 22-Dec. 21), indicates that 1.717 million Iranian android device users have download messenger apps in the period, followed by video streaming services (837,300), mobile tools (635,600), shopping (610,800), social media platforms (548,400), photo editing apps (529,100), transportation (511,100), strategy games (457,300), news services(366,900), financial apps (275,000), practical apps (252,200), driving (208,600), weather (200,500) and information apps (197,400).
The café Bazaar store, which has 35 million users, also said that 19 percent of the apps published in the store during the 3-month period by developers are educational.
Regional apps were the second most downloadable apps with 8.1 percent, followed by books and resources (8 percent), practical apps (7.4 percent), entertainment (6.9 percent) and action games (4.8 percent).
Android devices are dominant in Iran’s smart phone market, with an estimated 87 percent share of total devices, followed by IOS (12 percent).
Over 51 percent of Iranians who use android based mobile phones are using Samsung brand’s devices.
