Iran figures out its crude oil exports abroad

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2. Iran exported crude oil and petroleum products worth $16.2 billion in the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024), according to Iran's Customs Administration (IRICA), Trend reports.

IRICA did not reveal the amount of crude oil and petroleum products it exported in the reporting period, nor the countries to which it exported them.

Besides, according to the administration, in the mentioned period, Iran mainly exported $559 million worth of liquid propane, $553 million worth of natural liquid gas and $395 million worth of methanol.

Meanwhile, Iran cannot freely export the mentioned products due to sanctions imposed by the US and Western countries. Therefore, great importance is attached to the export of non-oil products.

The value of Iran's crude oil exports in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) was approximately $35.9 billion.

Iran currently has 74 oil fields and 22 gas fields operating in the country.

There are 37 oil fields in the territory of the National Company of Iran Southern Oil Zones, 14 in the territory of Iran Central Oil Zones Company, five in the territory of Arvandan Oil and Gas Production Company, and 18 in the territory of Offshore Oil Company. Additionally, Iran's South Oil Zones National Company operates five gas fields, Central Oil Zones Company operates 13, Pars Oil and Gas Company operates one, and Offshore Oil Company operates three gas fields.

To note, Iran's total hydrocarbon reserves amount to 1.2 trillion barrels. Iran can produce 340 billion barrels of this gas with existing technological equipment. Iran can use about 30 percent, while 70 percent remains unused underground.
