President Hassan Rouhani said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS summit meetings are good opportunities for Iran to declare its stances vis-à-vis regional developments, Irna reported.
'These meetings are good opportunities to explain our country's views on important regional and international issues,' President Rouhani said on Thursday.
The Iranian president reiterated the importance of regional meetings under the conditions that the world has distanced itself from a uni-polar global economy and unilateral political system.
'We can follow up our countries' political and economic objectives,' President Rouhani said.
The Iranian president pointed to the important political and security status of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the important economic status of BRICS comprising countries with newly emerging economies.
President Rouhani left Tehran for Moscow on Wednesday afternoon to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization as well as BRICS summit meetings.
He was due to fly on Thursday morning, but his schedule changed to Wednesday afternoon.
The 2-day meetings will start on July 9 and President Rouhani as the ' Special Guest' will deliver speech at BRICS summit and on the second day, he will also deliver speech at the SCO summit meeting.
Bilateral meetings and talks with a number of heads of member-states of BRICS and SCO are on his agenda.
BRICS comprises countries such as Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
In addition to the two Summit, Eurasia Summit is also to be held in Russia, too.
City of Ufa, capital of Bashkortostan Republic of Russia is hosting all three summits on Thursday and Friday July 9 and 10.
