The Iranian "Bavar-373" air defense missile system has undergone several technical tests, a senior official with the country’s defense ministry said.
Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami has said that the country is still developing "Bavar-373" and the air defense missile system will undergo more tests before being handed over to the military, Tasnim news agency reported.
Iran showcased "Bavar-373", an alternative to Russian S300, for first time last August.
The home-grown missile system features characteristics similar to Russia’s S-300 and it reportedly is capable of hitting high altitude targets.
Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan had earlier said that Tehran was expected to begin the mass production of "Bavar-373" in March 2017 after completing technical tests.
