Azerbaijan and Belarus continue to increase cooperation in the military-technical sphere, thereby enhancing the level of strategic partnership, and the new type of “Polonez” weapons will further strengthen the military potential of Azerbaijan, Belarusian analyst Yuri Shevtsov told Trend, commenting on the recent deliveries of the “Polonez” operational tactical complex to Azerbaijan.
The day before, another batch of 301-mm operational tactical missile systems of “Polonez” was delivered to Azerbaijan in the framework of the intergovernmental agreement between Azerbaijan and Belarus.
“Azerbaijan is a solvent country, and this is evident also in the field of military cooperation. Azerbaijan recently bought the new “Polonez” complex. This system is very important for Belarus. Azerbaijan has actually become that important first country which opened for this system a way to access the world arms market," Shevtsov said.
He noted that today, there are two versions of "Polonez" - "Polonez-1" and "Polonez-2".
“The Polonez-3 model is also being developed, and I think that Azerbaijan will most likely want to purchase the third model too," the expert said.
Shevtsov did not rule out that Azerbaijan could continue to buy on the Belarusian market also other military equipment, along with varieties of the “Polonez” rocket complex.
