After a speech in Armenian parliament the Ombudsman of Moldova Aurelia Grigoriu was not let out from Armenia, she is being kept in isolation and her life is threatened, Grigoriu's close friend Todur Zanet who keeps in contact with her, told Trend.

Recently, during her report in Armenian parliament Grigoriu said that the Khojaly genocide was committed by Armenians, and it is an internationally recognized fact.

According to Zanet, Grigoriu was not allowed to get into the car when the delegation was leaving Yerevan at three o'clock in the evening.

"Unfortunately, our delegation left Grigoriu and departed for Moldova," he said.

Currently Grigoriu is locked in the hotel, where the Armenian citizens thirsting for revenge are banging on the door of her room.

At the same time, according to Zanet, the time for payment for hotel room expires at 12 AM local time, and it is unclear what expects Grigoriu after that.

"The Armenian authorities demand her to make an official apology in exchange for freedom. We can not contact with official diplomatic missions, but time is against us. It is necessary to get her out of the hotel and pass her under the protection of the diplomatic mission," Zanet said.

According to him, the Foreign Ministry and the Supreme Security Council of Moldova are engaged in this issue.

"Armenia has occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories and committed genocide against the Azerbaijanis," the Ombudsman of the Moldova Aurelia Grigoriu said on Thursday in Armenian parliament.

On February 25-26, 1992, Armenian occupation forces together with the 366th infantry regiment of Soviet troops stationed in Khankendi (previously Stepanakert) committed an act of genocide towards the population of the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly.

Some 613 people were killed including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. A total of 1,000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. Eight families were killed, 130 children lost one parent and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1,275 innocent residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown. Following the withdrawal of the 366th infantry regiment from Khankendi, the military equipment belonging to the regiment, mostly went to Armenian separatists.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994.The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the U.S. - are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four U.N. Security Council resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
