Tbilisi, Georgia, March 13
By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:
Georgian Foreign Ministry has confirmed the abolition of the visa regime by Israel.
"The agreement on abolition of the visa regime for Georgian citizens travelling to Israel has come into the force," Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze said on March 13.
The minister said Israel made a principal decision to abolish the visa regime.
A few years ago, Georgia unilaterally abolished the visa regime for the citizens of Israel.
This decision was taken to increase the flow of tourists and businessmen, given the fact that Israel is a home for tens of thousands of natives and immigrants from Georgia - Jews and Georgians who moved there starting from 1970s and during the post-Soviet period, and continuing to keep in touch with their families and relatives in Georgia.
