Georgia to see double-digit economic growth – PM

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 8

By Maryana Akhmedova – Trend:

The economic growth forecast in Georgia was revised and we predict double-digit economic growth in 2021, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at a government meeting, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Georgian government has changed its 2021 economic growth forecast last week. Garibashvili spoke about it at the government session.

Real economic growth in Georgia over first 9 months of 2021 amounted to 11.3 percent, Garibashvili said.

The previously projected growth amounted to 9.5 percent, while the newly forecasted growth is 10 percent, he noted.

Thus, instead of the foreseen size of the GDP of 58.4 billion Georgian lari ($18.4 million), the revised forecast projects 58.7 billion Georgian lari ($18.5 million), Georgian PM said.

Meanwhile, the forecast for real economic growth in 2022 is 6 percent and the nominal GDP will be 65 billion Georgian lari ($20.5 million), he added.
