Georgia’s cement imports from Azerbaijan in January 2022 amounted to $1.6 million, which is a decrease of 38.4 percent, compared to December 2021 ($2.6 million), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).
The volume of exported cement from Azerbaijan to Georgia in the reporting period of 2022 also decreased by 39.7 percent, compared to December 2021 – from 53,100 tons to 31,974 tons.
However, Georgia’s cement imports from Azerbaijan in January 2022 increased by 14.2 percent, compared to $1.4 million over the same period of 2021, and by 142 percent, compared to January 2020 ($661,080).
Thus, Azerbaijan ranked first among top cement exporters to Georgia in January 2022, followed by Turkey ($489,350).
Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports of cement in January 2022 amounted to $2 million, which is a decrease of 42.8 percent, compared to $3.5 million over December 2021. However, the same figure increased by 5.2 percent, compared to $1.9 million in January 2021.
