Georgian Government’s initiative to abolish part of tax benefits is positively assessed by economists, the economist of the Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG) Mikheil Kukava said, Trend reports via Georgian media.
According to the PMCG economist, these benefits are counterproductive, and it is precisely the market distortion that is the main concern.
“It is necessary to evaluate the benefits of the preferential sector and analyze its impact on the market. The benefits can be introduced to separate sectors with the condition that it does not distort the market and an equal environment is created,” Kukava explained.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili announced that the government is considering part of the tax benefits exemption. The assessment of benefits will be completed this year and the document will be submitted together with the next year's draft budget. A public discussion on optimizing benefits will also begin.
