Azerbaijan increases cement export to Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. Georgia’s cement imports from Azerbaijan from January through March 2022 amounted to $6 million, which is an increase of 22.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($4.9 million), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume of exported cement from Azerbaijan to Georgia in the reporting period of 2022 also increased by 12.1 percent, compared to the first quarter of 2021 – from 107,626 tons to 120,753 tons.

Thus, Azerbaijan ranked first among top cement exporters to Georgia from January through March 2022, followed by Turkey ($2.1 million), and Russia ($11,840).

Georgia’s total cement imports in the first quarter of 2022 amounted to $8.2 million - an increase of 17.1 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($7 million).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports from Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2022 amounted to $230 million, which is an increase of 57.6 percent, compared to $145.9 million over the same period of 2021.
