(civil.ge) - Defense Minister of breakaway South Ossetia Anatoly Barankevich said that the recent reshuffle in the Georgian cabinet has no importance for Tskhinvali, as it will not lead to change of Tbilisi's policy towards South Ossetia, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported on November 11, reports Trend.
Following the dismissal of U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili was dismissed. The first failed to settle the problems in Iraq, while the other failed to settle the South Ossetian issue, Barankevich said.
He noted that settlement of economic problems will be as difficult for Irakli Okruashvili as to celebrate the New Year in Tskhinvali.
In May, 2006 Okruashvili said that he would resign from the Defense Minister's position if Georgia fails to reunite breakaway South Ossetia by January 1, 2007.
