Georgia Materials 13 April 2007 17:14 (UTC +04:00)

( Prime-News ) - The resolution will probably support extension of the Un mandate for 6 months. The mandate expires on April 16.

The draft resolution was prepared by the UN Secretary General's group of friends on Georgia, which includes Russia, USA, Great Britain, France and Germany.

Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, noted in his report that there is progress in implementation of the resolution, which was earlier initiated by the Russian Federation. Thus he also noted that the main condition if the resolution: bilateral negotiations between Sokhumi and Tbilisi, was not fulfilled.

Vitaly Churkin, permanent representative of the Russian Federation in UN, stated during the session of the UN Security Council last week that Georgian side did not fulfill any of the conditions.
