Russian Ambassador Called to Georgian Foreign Ministry for Explanation

Kirtskhalia / The Russian Ambassador to Georgia was called to the Georgian Foreign Ministry for an official explanation of yesterday's incident, an attack of the Georgian Tsitelubani Village by a Russian airplane. According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Kovalenko must clarify the reason that the Russian military airplane entered Georgian air space and committed the missile attack.

According to the Georgian side, the airplane marked SU-24 entered the Georgian air space at 7.30 p.m. on 6 August and having passed 60km of Georgian territory committed the missile attack. Fortunately, the bombed area was not populated at that time and there are no casualties.

After the meeting with the Russian Ambassador which will receive a note of protest, the Georgian Foreign Ministry plans to invite diplomats of accredited missions and inform them of Russia's aggression against a peaceful country.
