Saddam Hussein's lawyer arrested in Spain
A prominent Italian lawyer who represented the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein has been arrested in Spain, police sources and officials said Tuesday,DPA reported
Giovanni Di Stefano, 55, was held on Monday evening at a luxury villa in Palma, capital of the touristic Majorca Island. A British court had issued an international arrest warrant for the man, who faces embezzlement charges in several cases.
Di Stefano is now being kept in isolation at a local hospital because of a health problem, police said. He was to be taken to Madrid as soon as possible.
Di Stefano is known for having represented notorious defendants including Saddam, several of his collaborators as well as British train robber Ronald Biggs.
