Abductors release six aid workers in Yemen

Abductors in Yemen have released six aid workers unharmed, the German Foreign Ministry said in Berlin Thursday.

The six, who were kidnapped by armed tribesmen near the Yemeni capital Sana'a on Tuesday, worked for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), DPA reported.

One was a German national, the ministry said. Media reports said the others were a Colombian, an Iraqi, a Palestinian and two Yemenites.

A ministry spokeswoman told dpa, "We are delighted that the German and the others who were abducted are free, well and unharmed." She gave no details of why they were abducted or what led to their release.
