The prosecutor of the military tribunal in Kef in the north-east of Tunisia on Wednesday demanded the death penalty for ousted President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, The Voice of Russia reported.
The former head of state is now being judged in absentia for "complicity in deliberate killings" during attempts to suppress popular demonstrations in January 2011.
In January of last year in Tunisia, there was what the west is calling the "jasmine revolution." Riots broke out on January 14th and as a result President Ben Ali fled to Saudi Arabia and the next day was removed from office.
