Ibrahimi: Syria peace talks to last "up to a week"

The Syrian government and opposition are set for up to seven straight days together in their first ever face-to-face talks starting on Saturday, UN and Arab League mediator Lakhdar Ibrahimi announced on Friday, dpa reported.

"We will be working on Saturday and Sunday, nobody will be leaving on Saturday and no one will be leaving on Sunday."

"I hope it will be a good beginning and we will continue to the end of next week."

According to Ibrahimi, the first session early Saturday morning will be devoted to "practical issues" to make discussions between the two sides "easier."
