Missing Mi-8 crashed in Magadan region, six die

( Itar-Tass ) - A Mi-8 helicopter that went missing in the Magadan region on Saturday crashed and caught fire.

According to the verified data, seven people were on board. Six people died and only a crew captain was found alive, but heavily injured, the Emergencies Ministry's Far Eastern regional centre said.

The helicopter was owned by the Avialesookhrana central base of the aerial forest fire protection and carried out a commercial flight in the Seymchan district on September 15.

The crewmembers included three pilots. There were also another four passengers on board.

The helicopter was flying to the Burgali river, but crashed and burnt near the Suruktash mountain.

Another Mi-8 helicopter that was engaged in the search and rescue operation found the crashed helicopter. It is now flying to the village of Seymchan to bring the injured captain to hospital.
