( dpa ) - A 17-year-old youth has been charged with the murder of a Polish man in Dublin three weeks ago, the Irish national broadcaster RTE reported Saturday.

The youth, who cannot be named because he is a minor, was charged with the murder of 29-year-old Pawel Kalite in Drimnagh, a suburb of the Irish capital, on February 23.

The teenager, who is from the south inner city area of Dublin, appeared Saturday before a brief court sitting. He was remanded in custody until a sitting of the juvenile court next Wednesday.

Kalite and fellow Pole Marius Szwajkos, 27, were stabbed with a screwdriver near their home in Drimnagh after a row involving a gang of youths. Both died in hospital within days. dpa pmc sc
