Dutch coach Marco van Basten has called up Khalid Boulahrouz for Euro 2008 after the loss of Ryan Babel through injury, De Telegraaf reported Saturday, the dpa reported.

The Sevilla defender had been cut from the coach's final squad of 23 for the tournament from June 7 to 29 in Austria and Switzerland.

He has now been nominated as a replacement for Babel, 21, who tore ankle ligaments in training on Saturday. The Dutch football federation said the Liverpool forward would be sidelined for several weeks.

The Dutch, who are in Group C along with France, Italy and Romania at Euro 2008, play a friendly on Sunday against Wales.
