Militants have kidnapped three Afghan and two Indian workers in the province of Maidan Wardak, which borders Kabul, an unnamed official said.
The official said the five men who were traveling through the Sayidabad district had failed to alert security forces to their journey.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said they seized two land cruisers and a machinegun from the men, who worked for a private company.
