One British soldier killed in Afghanistan

Britain's Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that a Royal Marine was killed in southern Afghanistan, Xinhua reported.
The marine, from 45 Commando, died of a gun shot wound after coming under fire in Helmand province, a spokesman for the ministry said.
He was in a patrol supporting a bomb disposal team, the spokesman said, and died while being flown to hospital.
Next of kin had been informed of the death, he said.
He is the seventh British serviceman to die in Afghanistan so far this year and the 144th British casualty since the 2001 invasion..
There are more than 8,000 British troops stationed in Afghanistan.
