U.S. soldier dies in northern Iraq

An American soldier died of wounds sustained from attack in Salah Ad Din province in northern Iraq, the U.S. military said Saturday.
A brief military statement said that the U.S. coalition forces soldier died from injuries sustained following an attack on a patrol in the Salah Ad Din province of northern Iraq on Saturday.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement added without giving details on the attack, Xinhua reported.
The latest death raised the toll of the U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to 4,256 since the U.S.-led invasion in Iraq in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
