A 43-year-old overseas Indian who returned home from the United States 10 days ago died Sunday of the A H1N1 flu, becoming the fourth fatality of the deadly flu in the country, Xinhua quoted the semi-official Press Trust of India as reporting.
Praveen Patel died of the highly infectious disease at 01:30 a. m. at the Ahmedabad, Gujarat in western India, said the report.
A 14-year-old schoolgirl, Reeda Shaikh, died on Aug. 3 in Pune, western India, becoming the first fatality of the flu in India.
Sanjay Tukaram Kokre, a 42-year-old teacher, and 53-year-old Fahmida Panwala, who was a diabetic with a history of hypertension, died due to A H1N1 flu Saturday in Pune and Mumbai respectively.
More than 700 people have been infected with the flu in the country.
