A Landslide happened in eastern Pulau Buru (Buru island) of Maluku province in eastern parts of Indonesia has killed 18 people, spokesman of the Disaster Management Agency Priyadi Kardono said on Sunday, Xinhua reported.
Heavy rains triggered soil in a hill fell down and hit scores of houses in the island on Friday, the spokesman said. "All the bodies of the 18 has been evacuated,"he told Xinhua over phone.
Landslide occurred frequently in Indonesia during the wet season from April to December.
Lacking of forest-covered areas is the main reason for the landslide in the archipelago country.
