Five Taliban militants including two commanders were killed as security forces raided their hideouts in Uruzgan province south of Afghanistan Friday, provincial police chief Juma Gul Humat said Saturday.

Five Taliban militants including two commanders were killed as security forces raided their hideouts in Uruzgan province south of Afghanistan Friday, provincial police chief Juma Gul Humat said Saturday, Xinhua reported.
  
"The operation with the involvement of police and army covered Charchino district during which five Taliban rebels including two commanders namely Mullah Khaliq and Mullah Khairullah were killed," Humat told Xinhua.

Two more insurgents who were busy in planting mine on a road to target security forces were captured, he further said, adding there were no casualties on the troops.

Taliban militants have yet to make comment.

The militants have intensified activities mostly in the shape of suicide and roadside bombings which have proved deadly.

Taliban-linked activities and roadside bombings have left seven NATO soldiers dead moslty in Taliban hotbed southern region since Thursday.
