U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip H. Gordon plans to speak about European security issues with the Russian leadership, the State Department reported Friday.

"Gordon will travel to Russia, Germany, and Poland from October 25-29," the statement said.

"In Russia, on October 25-26, he will meet senior Russian government officials to discuss bilateral issues and European security in preparation for the NATO-Russia Council summit in Lisbon and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe summit in Astana," it said.

Gordon is also expected to meet with academic, civil society, and human rights leaders, RIA Novosti reported.

He will then travel to Berlin, Germany, on October 26-28 to meet with senior German government officials and deputies, and will conclude his trip in Warsaw, Poland, on October 28-29.
