Afghan army foil suicide bombing

Personnel of Afghan National Army (ANA) have killed a would-be suicide bomber and captured another in southern Helmand province, an army spokesman Colonel Rasoul Mohammad said Wednesday, Xinhua reported.
  
"Both the terrorists, one of them riding an explosive-laden car and another strapping explosive device to his body, were attempting to target a base of Afghan army in Shurab area of Gereshk district on Tuesday but both were identified and thus their vicious design was foild," Mohammad told Xinhua.

"One of the terrorists was captured by the troops and another after recieving bullets blew himself up and died on the spot," the officer said.

There were no casualties suffered by soldiers and civilians, he added.

Notorious for poppy and insurgency, Helmand has been regarded as Taliban stronghold in southern Afghanistan.
