An international arrest warrant has been issued against former Tunisian leader Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, his wife Leila and other relatives, Tunisia's justice minister, Lazhar Karoui Chebbi, said Wednesday, DPA reported.
The minister told a press conference the warrant had been issued in conjunction with Interpol and concerned members of both Ben Ali's family and members of his wife's Trabelsi clan.
The dictatorial Ben Ali fled to Saudi Arabia on January 14, following a month-long popular revolt that cost dozens of lives.
He is accused of trampling human rights during his 23 years in power.
His family and relatives are also accused of having used their political connections to amass massive wealth.
