A suicide bomber attacked a military border guard post in north-western Pakistan, killing four officers and eight civilians, officials said, DPA reported.
The attack took place in Khar, the main city of Bajaur, one of the seven tribal districts where Taliban and al-Qaeda have hideouts.
"The blast damaged several nearby shops and killed civilians," a local official said. "For the moment, 12 people are confirmed killed. Among them are four police and eight civilians."
At least 42 people were injured, he said.
