US President Barack Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, in a meeting at the White House Friday, discussed the possibility of US troops in Afghanistan beyond 2014, DPA reported.
In a joint statement, the leaders said they discussed "the possibility of a post-2014 US presence" to support Afghan forces and pressure terrorist group al-Qaeda.
The leaders did not specify how many troops might remain, with the White House earlier this week leaving open the possibility of withdrawing all US forces from the country after more than 10 years of war.
