Mandela discharged from hospital
Nelson Mandela was on Sunday discharged from hospital, a day after the former South African president was admitted for a medical checkup, the presidency said.
"Nelson Mandela has this afternoon returned to his Johannesburg home following a successful medical examination at a Pretoria hospital," Mac Maharaj, spokesman for President Jacob Zuma said, dpa reported.
"The doctors have completed the tests ... He is well and as before, his health remains under the management of the medical team."
Mandela, 94, underwent surgery to remove a gallstone after treatment for a lung infection at the end of last year.
The anti-Apartheid struggle veteran was elected president after his incarceration (1963-1990) for opposing white minority rule under Apartheid.
