The servicemen of Turkish armed forces are digging ditches and building a wall in the country's Hatay province on the border with Syria, the Anadolu Agency reported August 13.

The wall will be three meters high, and two meters thick.

Some 2.5-km long part of the wall has been already built. The wall's total length will be 8.25 kilometers.

Currently, there are over two million Syrian refugees in Turkey. About 300,000 people are living in the Syrian refugee camps in Turkey.

The rest are scattered throughout the Turkish provinces. Istanbul currently is a home to 40,000 refugees from Syria.

Ankara has so far spent $5.5 billion to support the Syrian refugees, according to Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
