Russia’s accusations groundless, says Turkish PM

Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec.1

By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

Russia's accusations against Turkey have no grounds, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said.

He pointed out that if Russia wants to restore the relations with Turkey, it should open diplomatic channels for negotiations, TRT Haber TV channel reported Dec.1.

"Russia should have known that Turkey has the right to protect its borders will all possible means," said Davutoglu.

Turkish Air Force jets shot down the Russian SU-24 bomber after it entered Turkish airspace Nov. 24. Both pilots managed to eject and the plane crashed on Syrian territory.

Relations between Russia and Turkey have deteriorated after the incident.

Earlier, spokesperson for Russian president Dmitry Peskov told Turkish media that the restoration of the relations between the two countries is out of the question.
