Turkish Air Force destroyed a detachment of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorists, who planned to enter Turkey from the north of Iraq, the Turkish General Staff said in a message Feb. 2.
The message says that four PKK strongholds were also destroyed as part of the operation against PKK terrorists.
Earlier, an attack was committed on a military unit in the Turkish province of Hakkari on the border with Iraq, as a result of which one Turkish serviceman was killed and other five were wounded.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
