Turkish ministry discloses volume of crude oil transshipped via local ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 7

The total volume of crude oil transshipped via the ports of Turkey from January through May 2020 topped 11.4 million tons, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on July 7.

In the reporting period, 1.02 million tons of crude oil were transported via ports of Turkey by ships flying the Turkish flag and 10.4 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

At the same time, 21.6 million tons of crude oil were transited through Turkish ports from January through May 2020.

From January through May 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 151.5 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag reached 11.9 million tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 5.9 million tons, while the cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 133.6 million tons from January through May 2020.

Over the reporting period, 30.7 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports amounted to 27.9 million tons in May 2020.

The volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag reached 2.3 million tons in May 2020.

In the reporting month, the volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 940,716 tons, while cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 24.7 million tons.

According to the ministry, 5.7 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey in May 2020.
