Tehran Stock Exchange main index hits new record

The TSE's main index, TEPIX, soared to a fresh record on Sunday, surpassing 33.000 units, the Mehr News Agency reported.

Founded in 1967, the Tehran Stock Exchange has been one of the world's best performing stock markets in recent years, ranking as the best bourse index in Europe, Africa and Middle East in 2010 in terms of the main index performance.

The TSE's annual growth rate of main indices was also ranked as the second best among all members of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).

The WFE is the association of 52 regulated exchanges around the world which aims to develop and promote standards in markets.

Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) and Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) inked a memorandum of understanding to boost bilateral ties on November 20.

The managing directors of TSE and KSE, Hassan Qalibaf-Asl and Nadeem Naqvi, signed the MoU, the Fars News Agency reported.

The two sides will study possible ways to exchange knowledge.
