Eurovision is considered an important event, which contributes to the inter-cultural dialogue, along with being a great traditional feast in the history of musical culture, Azerbaijan`s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the Eurovision-2012 Song Contest Mehriban Aliyeva says in her appeal to Eurovision fans.

Eurovision is considered an important event, which contributes to the inter-cultural dialogue, along with being a great traditional feast in the history of musical culture, Azerbaijan`s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the Eurovision-2012 Song Contest Mehriban Aliyeva says in her appeal to Eurovision fans, "Eurovision" official website reported.

Mehriban Aliyeva wholeheartedly welcomes the participants and guests of the Eurovision-2012 Song Contest, a feast of music of different countries, peoples and cultures.

"This year the high-profile contest draws the attention of music lovers around the world to Azerbaijan - home to first opera and ballet in the Muslim East, the cradle of mugham, which was incorporated into the Representative List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and Garabagh shikastasi, a touching and wonderful genre of our music."

"The people of Azerbaijan have always contributed to developing the world culture, and enriched it with their folk music, which harmoniously blends Western and Eastern motives, modern rhythms and traditional styles."

The Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the Eurovision-2012 says "In Azerbaijan, traditions of tolerance, dialogue of cultures and civilizations date back to ancient times. For many centuries people of different nationalities and religions have been living together in peace and harmony here. And music will unite the performers, guests and audience, all those who gathered in Baku for the Eurovision song contest, regardless of their nationality, religion and political views."

Azerbaijan`s first lady says "Preparation for Eurovision saw us work tirelessly and hard, but we were looking forward to meeting with you. I`m confident that you will have unforgettable impressions from this music feast, which contributes to mutual enrichment of different cultures and strengthens the unity among nations, as well as our wonderful Baku and hospitable people."
