ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 4. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and discussed issues of multilateral cooperation, Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The leaders expressed confidence that the high-level meeting would analyze the current state of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and discuss the prospects for further development of relations. They emphasized that this would contribute to addressing key challenges in enhancing relations between Central Asia and the European Union.
President Ursula von der Leyen noted the European Union’s interest in strengthening multilateral partnerships with Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan.
President Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the expansion of fruitful ties with the European Union. In line with the EU's green energy policy, Turkmenistan pays special attention to the introduction of new technologies and ensuring the stability of energy resources.
In the framework of cooperation, Turkmenistan is also successfully implementing projects in areas such as legislation, science and education, agriculture, environmental protection, and climate change mitigation.
The President also expressed gratitude to the President of the European Commission for her contribution to the development of relations between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
