TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 4. Central Asian countries and the EU have signed a Joint Declaration on Establishing Strategic Partnership, Trend reports.
The declaration was adopted following the first Central Asia - European Union summit in Samarkand.
The summit, held on April 4, was chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The event was attended by European Council President António Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov, as well as the heads of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.
The summit’s agenda focused on the future of multifaceted relations and practical cooperation between Central Asian countries and the EU, with discussions covering key international and regional issues.
Particular attention was given to expanding investment cooperation, boosting trade, and advancing joint programs and projects in areas such as innovation, green energy, mining, agriculture, transport, logistics, and digitalization. The summit also emphasized continuing active exchanges in culture, tourism, science, education, and other priority fields.
